There are many eye diseases which can be found during a comprehensive eye exam, even though no obvious symptoms may be recognized by the patient. If it is determined that you have an eye problem and need advanced care, it can always be received at our office. It is extremely important that eye diseases are caught early in order to prevent permanent vision damage. For example, if the patient is diagnosed with glaucoma while it is in its early stages, it can be easily treated with medicated eye drops. However, if glaucoma is allowed to progress untreated, the patient may end up with permanent damage to their optic nerve. As part of your eye exam, your eyes will also be tested for their visual acuity. If it is determined that you have astigmatism, or are nearsighted or farsighted, our optometrist will write a vision prescription for you which will enable you to see clearly. Today, almost everyone’s vision can be corrected using contact lenses as well as eyeglasses; even patients with astigmatism or dry eye can now have their vision corrected using specialty contact lenses.
